There's a new challenge at ADQ and at Cloth and Clay. This is just an "in progress" pic. I'm attempting a Goblin character from the children's book, "Ten Little Goblins" and another character from another book which I haven't thoroughly fleshed out yet :)

I call him Timmy. Such fun trying to make a doll completely out of clay. This is a shelf sitter doll that I made for the Art Doll Quarterly Challenge. I am trying to create every genre of doll and so my next project, which is also for the Art Doll Quarterly challenge, will be a story book doll. After that, or maybe before, I'm making a shadow box doll. What are you up to?

Doll Auction for Charity

We are having our new "Lily" Doll auctioned on Ebay for charity. Half the proceeds will go to the Alliance for Lupus Research so please tell your friends and maybe tweet it too :) We would really appreciate it. This is personal for us and we really want to support treatment and a cure. NOW, about the doll.
The doll is really sweet. She can be used as a pincushion doll or just as a sitter :)
She is made from all vintage fabrics and somewhat aged. Full of beans and polyfill and ready to brighten any room!

Inspired by Frieda...her full name being Magdalena Carmen Frieda Kahlo y Calderón. I chose Carmine instead of Carmen because of the red hair. She was a lot of fun to create. I've wanted to experiment with ball joints and took inspiration from Jane DeRosier's work.

"Dreaming of a white Christmas? Look no further than Google, who tucked a new snow-themed secret into its search engine this holiday season.

Type "Let it snow" into Google, and the search engine will reward you with some lovely flurries. Digital snow flakes flutter into view, while pixelated frost sneaks in from the top and bottom of the screen. Pretty soon, the effect fogs up the entire window, allowing you to draw messages in the virtual frost. You won't be able to click on any of the search results, but don't worry. The normal search icon turns into a "Defrost" button. One click will wipe away this icy veneer.

"Let it snow" stands as Google's latest Easter egg, a term for little secrets hidden in movies, video games, or websites. The search giant has sprinkled dozens of these little treats into its various pages. So, don't go back to work just yet!

Last month, searchers discovered "Do a barrel roll." Typing those four words into Google flips the entire browser. (Have you heard about Nintendo's role in bringing you "Do a barrel roll"?)

There are plenty of other hidden gags. Have you tried searching for "askew"? What about typing in "number of horns on a unicorn + the loneliest number"? Or have you attempted to make Google talk like Elmer Fudd?

And, of course, Google has some more overt surprises, such as its regular Google doodles. The company has rolled out winter doodles several years in a row, so expect a new batch this holiday season.

If "let it snow" isn't working, check your browser. The trick will not work in Internet Explorer 6, 7, or 8, nor in older versions of Firefox or Safari. Several of Google's recent Easter eggs use HTML 5, code that only runs in up-to-date Web browsers. What's new?

We're still moving :0)
That's why we've been rather quiet. We still are packing and busy busy with getting everything in order. We're not sure if we're going to get one of those new "pods" to move our stuff then drive down OR, rent a truck, get on the ferry then drive the rest of the way.

In the meantime, here are a few artists items I love. I have huge lists of artists and their creations - so many, I can't keep up but I like going through them all and enjoy what others are doing. Not just dolls, but all kinds of creations.

I will try to make it a regular feature to post others works. It's fun to share faves, yes?

What could be better than yummy 7-up dressing on top of 7-up salad? and why stop there? why not 7-up poached eggs............or 7-up eggnog? I think it's all sounding incredibly delish, don't you?

Speaking of eggnogg....

OK, I admit, I love eggnog and these recipes are making my mouth water... even in spite of the fact that the images are on a dowdy grey background... who edited this layout? horrid tones BUT, give me eggnog pie anyday. Too bad they only sell nog at Christmas.

Off to find a recipe for homemade nog :)

I have wanted to make some prim Angel dolls for a long time but angel dolls with a bit of a twist. I decided to scent them and of course, write poems for them too :)

Well, we've been really busy making dolls and Christmas decorations. We've also been in this weird mood for bad movies, and sci fi. Watched Alien lately? such a good sci fi. Currently, we have Man From Laramie on. Jimmy Stewart. Love him. Not exactly sci fi but almost bad, 'cept for the acting. My fave flick is Rear Window. If you havent' seen it and you love Hitchcock movies, give it a go and see if you don't love it too - and check out Grace Kelly's (Stewarts love interest in the movie) fab bracelet. ooo la la, it's gorgeous!

Anywho, here's a couple pics of a recent pin-cushion doll. Made with fabric purchased at Etsy. Great vintage looking ribbon fabric with stamps of script, floral and Paris postcard designs. These pin-cushion dolls are scented too :) and speaking of scents, I'm thinkin' of making more perfume for the holidays - makes a good stocking stuffer.
